Design & Engineering

Custom motor design, winding optimization, thermal modeling, and mechanical interface engineering. We provide 3D models and preliminary datasheets during this phase so your team can continue system-level design without waiting for a physical prototype.

Prototype & Validation

Functional prototypes built on production-representative tooling. We run performance validation against the joint specification and deliver a full test report. Your team validates integration and system-level performance. We iterate until both sides sign off.

Production Release

Tooling finalization, production process validation, and first article inspection. We establish supply chain programs matched to your production schedule — Kanban, consignment, VMI, or buffer stock. This is where Turnkey Assembly Services extends co-development into full contract manufacturing when the application requires assembled, tested, install-ready units.

Common questions about co-development

What's the difference between co-development and a custom quote?

A custom quote starts with an existing product and modifies it. Co-development starts with your application and designs the motor from the application requirements. This produces a solution optimized for your specific operating conditions — not a compromised adaptation of something designed for a different use case.

What's the minimum order volume for a co-development program?

There's no fixed minimum. We've run co-development programs for applications producing 50 units annually and others producing 50,000+. The engineering investment is front-loaded; per-unit economics improve with volume, but we don't require volume commitments to begin engineering.

How does co-development work if we already have a motor specification?

We'll review it. If your existing spec is well-matched to the application, we'll manufacture to it. More often, we find opportunities to improve performance, reduce cost, or simplify integration by re-examining the specification against the actual application requirements.

Can we use our existing drive electronics with a TelcoMotion motor?

Yes — and this is one of the most common co-development scenarios. We engineer the motor winding, back-EMF profile, and encoder interface to match your existing drive and controller. You don't have to redesign your electronics to work with our motor.

What IP do we retain from the co-development process?

You own your product design and application architecture. Motor designs developed during co-development are discussed upfront — most programs result in application-specific designs that are exclusive to your production program.
